Mayorβs Notice: Snow Removal Update
Official public notice to Palisades Park residents regarding snow removal operations and alternate side parking.
βοΈ
New Snow Removal Plan Effective Tomorrow (January 30)
- DPW will publish a daily list of streets scheduled for plowing and snow removal on the Borough website, social media, and through resident email alerts.
- Alternate side parking will be enforced but NOT ticketed, unless you block a street scheduled for snow removal.
- If your car is parked on a street scheduled for clearing, you WILL be ticketedβand finally towed if it continues to obstruct the work.
π°
NOTICE TO PALISADES PARK RESIDENTS
Today, I spent many hours on the road with our Department of Public Works (DPW) responding to resident concerns about snow removalβparticularly why certain streets remain uncleared even when alternate side parking is in effect. Your concerns are valid, and I want you to know that I take them seriously. I left my daytime career so I could dedicate myself fully to serving as your Mayor, and that commitment is why I am out there with our staff, seeing conditions firsthand.
Like neighboring towns such as Fort Lee, Leonia, and Ridgefield, our Borough does not have the resources to remove all snow at once. I personally visited these towns today, and their school zones and side streets are in similar condition to ours.
This afternoon, I held an impromptu meeting with the Police Department, DPW, Borough Administrator, Councilman, and DPW Committee Chairperson Charlie Shin. Together, we developed a new coordinated strategy that surrounding towns have not implemented, and we hope this will be a win-win execution.
π§
NEW SNOW REMOVAL PLAN (Effective Tomorrow, January 30th):
- DPW will publish a daily list of streets scheduled for plowing and snow removal on the Borough website, social media, and through resident email alerts by tomorrow.
- Alternate side parking will be enforced but NOT ticketed, unless you block a street scheduled for snow removal.
- If your car is parked on a street scheduled for clearing, you WILL be ticketedβand finally towed if it continues to obstruct the work.
- If your neighbors have not cleared snow or there is a dangerous amount of ice on the sidewalk, please contact the Police Department. Our Code Enforcement team will respond and handle the situation.
- After each group of streets is completed, DPW will release the next list, and the same process will continue.
PLEASE subscribe to the Mayorβs Newsletter on the Borough website to receive important updates directly. PLEASE see the snow clearing schedule below.
This hybrid approach is a first for our municipality. It requires coordination and does not prioritize summons revenueβbut it prioritizes you, our residents. I believe this will be a win-win for both the community and the Borough.
I also inspected key areas todayβLindbergh, Notre Dame, the High School, and the Library. Crosswalks were clear, visibility was safe, and our crossing guards and police were doing an excellent job under the freezing conditions. After just one day of alternate side parking in effect, our DPW staff is working diligently and making real progress.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and care for one another. Please continue to look out for your neighbors.

Palisades Park Police Department Regains Control of
Internal Affairs
Palisades Park, NJ β The Bergen County Prosecutorβs Office (BCPO) has advised that control
over Internal Affairs functions has been returned to the Palisades Park Police Department,
signaling confidence in the departmentβs progress under new leadership and its commitment to
maintaining the highest professional standards. This development follows a period during which
the BCPO temporarily oversaw Internal Affairs operations at the PPPD.
βWe welcome this development as a sign of restored confidence in our department and the
direction weβre heading,β said Palisades Park Police Chief George Beck. βWe remain committed
to handling Internal Affairs investigations with the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and
transparency, as we do with all other public safety functions.β
Chief of Detectives Matthew J. Finck from the Bergen County Prosecutorβs Office adds,
βI am confident that Chief Beck will lead the department with integrity and distinction. We are all
fortunate to have a leader with his experience and commitment to public safety at the helm.β
βThis marks a powerful milestone for our community and our police department. Weβve
committed ourselves to building a culture of accountability and professionalismβand this
decision proves that progress is real, promises are being kept, and reform is underway,β said
Mayor Paul Kim.
Both agencies have emphasized their ongoing cooperation. The Palisades Park Police Department
is focused on moving forward under new leadership, reinforcing accountability within the ranks,
and strengthening the partnership between officers and the community. That positive direction
was recently highlighted by the appointment of Chief Beck in August.
