✨ First in Palisades Park
🐶 Columbus Park Dog Park
Coming to Palisades Park!
Next to 83 Centre Place & Grand Ave β€” a brand-new community amenity

For the first time in Palisades Park's history, a dedicated dog park is being built at Columbus Park, next to 83 Centre Place and Grand Avenue. This is part of a broader effort to create the amenities that residents deserve and that neighboring towns have long provided.

Our town is catching up — and this is just the beginning. A lot of “firsts” are happening here in Palisades Park:

  • First dog park in our borough's history
  • First NJSACOP Accreditation for our Police Department — only the top third of NJ police departments receive this recognition, reflecting excellence in procedures, management, education, and physical standards
  • First online property and tax-payment portal for residents
  • First digital employee check-in system for Borough staff

Reform means building a community where residents are proud to live — and proud to call Palisades Park home.

🌧️ Stormwater Drainage Upgrade
New lines for streets that never had drainage β€” reducing flooding for all residents
Stormwater sewer construction in Palisades Park

For years, certain streets in Palisades Park had no stormwater drains at all — creating an unusual and unfair burden of flooding for the residents who lived on those blocks. That is changing now.

The Borough is actively installing new stormwater drains and lines on streets that were never built with proper drainage infrastructure. This multi-year investment, funded in part by state and federal grants, is directly reducing flooding and protecting homes and businesses.

We are also developing new ordinances to prevent future flooding:

  • A mandatory PERC test for all new developments — ensuring that soil can properly absorb rainfall before construction begins
  • A requirement for developers to install stormwater drains when their project is not within a certain distance of existing drainage infrastructure

These policies ensure that growth in our Borough does not come at the expense of the neighbors who already live here.

🛣️ 5th Street Road Paving
Active construction now underway β€” heading toward Route 46

5th Street → Route 46: Road Paving Underway

Active construction in progress — thank you for your patience

Road paving is actively underway on 5th Street, heading up toward Route 46. The Borough is working to provide safe passage, prevent vehicle damage, and resolve the immediate concerns that residents have raised about this stretch of road.

We hear you — and we are working as quickly as possible to restore this roadway to the standard every resident deserves. Thank you for your continued patience as construction proceeds.

🚨 Public Safety Alert: Vehicle Theft
A message from the Palisades Park Police Department

Palisades Park and surrounding areas have experienced an increase in carjackings and vehicle thefts (Grand Theft Auto). Our location near the George Washington Bridge and Lincoln Tunnel makes us a targeted area. The Police Department is taking immediate action and urges all residents to take the following precautions:

  • ⚠️ Always lock your car, even when parked at home
  • ⚠️ Do not leave valuables visible inside your vehicle — remove them entirely
  • ⚠️ Park in areas covered by security cameras (e.g., Blink, Ring, or DIY home security systems)
  • ⚠️ Keep your driveway well-lit at night to deter theft attempts
  • ⚠️ If a theft attempt is made or your vehicle is stolen, report it to the Police Department immediately — we will come to your location, advise on security, and assist with your police report

The Palisades Park Police will increase drive-by patrols in targeted areas to maintain a visible presence and deter criminal activity. We are committed to keeping our community safe.

The Borough of Palisades Park is launching a 3-month trial program to provide free parking at meter spaces starting at 6:00 PM instead of 10:00 PM.

This temporary change is intended to support residents, visitors, and local businesses during a challenging economic period and to evaluate whether earlier free parking helps encourage activity along Broad Avenue and nearby commercial areas.

The trial phase will remain in effect through June 30. Borough officials will review community and business response before deciding whether to extend or end the program.

Previous Free Time
