Thunderstorms can be intense, bringing lightning, heavy rain, strong winds, and even power outages. Here’s what you need to do before, during, and after a storm to stay safe!
⛈️Before the Storm:
✅Check the weather forecast and sign up for alerts.
✅Secure outdoor items that can be blown away.
✅Unplug electronics to prevent power surges.
✅Prepare an emergency kit with flashlights, batteries, water, and non-perishable food.
✅Have a backup power source if needed (portable charger, generator).
🌩️During the Storm:
⚠️Stay indoors and avoid windows.
⚡Do NOT use corded phones or electrical appliances.
🚗If driving, pull over safely and stay inside your vehicle.
🚦Never drive through flooded areas. Turn Around, Don't Drown!
🚫Avoid water activities—pools, lakes, and showers conduct electricity.
🔌Power Outage Tips:
💡Use flashlights instead of candles to reduce fire risk.
🛑Keep fridge and freezer doors closed to preserve food.
🔋Conserve phone battery for emergencies.
🏡If using a generator, keep it outside to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
