Palisades Park Police Department Regains Control of
Internal Affairs

Palisades Park, NJ – The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO) has advised that control
over Internal Affairs functions has been returned to the Palisades Park Police Department,
signaling confidence in the department’s progress under new leadership and its commitment to
maintaining the highest professional standards. This development follows a period during which
the BCPO temporarily oversaw Internal Affairs operations at the PPPD.

“We welcome this development as a sign of restored confidence in our department and the
direction we’re heading,” said Palisades Park Police Chief George Beck. “We remain committed
to handling Internal Affairs investigations with the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and
transparency, as we do with all other public safety functions.”

Chief of Detectives Matthew J. Finck from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office adds,
“I am confident that Chief Beck will lead the department with integrity and distinction. We are all
fortunate to have a leader with his experience and commitment to public safety at the helm.”

“This marks a powerful milestone for our community and our police department. We’ve
committed ourselves to building a culture of accountability and professionalism—and this
decision proves that progress is real, promises are being kept, and reform is underway,” said
Mayor Paul Kim.

Both agencies have emphasized their ongoing cooperation. The Palisades Park Police Department
is focused on moving forward under new leadership, reinforcing accountability within the ranks,
and strengthening the partnership between officers and the community. That positive direction
was recently highlighted by the appointment of Chief Beck in August.
