Overview
Any vehicle parked on the streets of the Borough of Palisades Park between
12:00 AM and 9:00 AM, Monday through Friday, is required to have either:
- A valid Residential Parking Permit, or
- A valid Visitor Parking Permit
Residential Parking Permits
Residential Parking Permits are issued to vehicles owned or operated by Palisades Park residents and are subject to review and approval by the Borough.
- Resident Parking Permit – 3 Years | Fee: $20.00
- Resident Parking Permit – Senior (Age 65+) – 3 Years | Fee: $10.00
- Resident Parking Permit – Company Vehicle – 3 Years | Fee: $20.00
Company Vehicle Permits require a letter from the company confirming that the resident is the authorized user of the vehicle.

- Resident Parking Permit – Health Care Provider (Monthly) | Fee: $5.00 (31-day permit)
Visitor Parking Permits
Visitor Parking Permits are intended for vehicles that do not have an active residential permit but need to park overnight during regulated hours.
- Daily Visitor Parking Permit | Fee: $8.00
- Monthly Visitor Parking Permit | Fee: $175.00
- Overnight guests
- Rental vehicles
- Vehicles not registered or insured to a Palisades Park resident
- Vehicles awaiting approval of a residential permit application
Application & Approval Process
- Visit the Permit Portal and select the appropriate permit type.
- Complete the online application and submit all required information.
- Applications are reviewed by the Records Department for approval.
- Once approved, applicants will receive an email notification prompting payment.
- A permit becomes valid only after approval and payment are completed.
Required Documentation
Applicants may be required to provide documentation verifying residency and vehicle ownership, including but not limited to:
- Driver’s license
- Vehicle registration
- Insurance documentation
- Proof of Palisades Park residency
Temporary Plates & Pending Applications
- Vehicles with temporary license plates do not require a residential parking permit at the time of issuance.
- Once permanent plates, registration, and insurance are received, a permit application must be submitted promptly.
- If a residential permit application is pending approval, a Visitor Parking Permit is required for overnight parking.
Transferring a Permit to a New Vehicle
During the active period of a Residential Parking Permit, residents who purchase a new vehicle may transfer their existing permit to the new vehicle.
- The remaining time on the original permit will carry over.
- The new vehicle will remain valid until the original permit expiration date.
